1963

sundayschoolIn the earliest conception of this church, a few families began meeting in a home on Sage Avenue. Once they outgrew the house, they moved to a funeral home, in the building that is now Sue’s Health Foods, to continue their services. Yucaipa First Baptist Church sent an interim pastor to lead the services and became the mother church to this new congregation.

1964

groundUnder an interim pastor, 17 families became charter members of Calvary Baptist Church. They called Robert A. Jones to be the first permanent pastor, and he preached his first sermon on June 14, 1964. Later that year, ten acres of land were purchased on Crestview Drive, and construction of the church began after a ground-breaking ceremony on November 1, 1964.

1965

The main building of Calvary Baptist Church was completed in early June and dedicated on June 18, 1965.

1968

Pastor David Innes accepted the call to become the second pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.

1972

second_buildingGround-breaking ceremonies were held for the Multi-Purpose Educational Unit on May 7, and the building was dedicated on September 8, 1972.

1975

Calvary Christian School began September 1975 with grades 1st-8th.

1977

Max Weniger accepted the pastorate and assumed the ministry on July 14.

1977

Calvary Baptist Church School added grades 9-12.

1984

Brad Weniger became pastor of Calvary Baptist.

1985

Joseph Hawley accepted the call to become pastor on March 27, 1985.

1989

Ben Davis accepted the pastorate.

1992

Rob Watkins accepted the call to become pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.

 

2016

After 23 years of ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Rob Watkins announced his resignation at Calvary Baptist Church to assume an itinerant ministry. The church voted on April 6 to call Casey Kuhlman as pastor. He began the ministry at Calvary Baptist Church on June 26, 2016.
